Bilingual Parenting Event on Oct 22, 2022 at 10am-12pm

Join us for a 2-hour webinar for the parents of Calgary Little Finns, where Soile Pietikäinen will answer questions about bilingual development, specifically with focus on Finnish language. Soile is Finnish and lives in London, UK. She is trilingual in Finnish-English-Italian and a mother of native trilingual young adults. At work she is a sociologist specialized in bilingual family interaction. She studies how parents and children really interact in bilingual family homes, and helps parents transform their children’s bilingualism.

The first hour of the event can be held in English if we have English speaking parents interested in attending. The second hour will be held in Finnish only. Please use this form to register for this event and submit your questions by September 30, 2022: https://forms.gle/CXvhzjxerRatTY4XA.

Juhannus 2022 Celebration

The Annual Juhannus celebration at Sandy Beach Park on Saturday June 25 saw a turnout of around 50-60 people. It was delightful to see many familiar and new faces. Attendees had a chance to enjoy the bonfire, play a game of Molkky, learn something new from Juhannus quiz, engage in conversation, savour various potluck dishes, and try an “authentic” Finnish pancake (cooked over a free-standing picnic BBQ following propane stove malfunctions!). Thank you to everyone who showed up and/or contributed!

Join us at Site #1 at Sandy Beach Park for Juhannus (Midsummer) on Saturday June 25 from 3:30-6pm MT. Join us for Finnish pancakes, a bonfire, Mölkky and other fun!
