Finnish Language Lessons

Language Lessons

Finnish language classes will start on Monday, September 11th, 2017, from 7-9pm.

They are held at the Scandinavian Centre (739 20 Ave NW, Calgary) in the Saga Room, located in the basement.

There will be 10 lessons for the Fall 2017 session. Session fee (10 classes) is $70. Textbooks $120.

All experience levels welcome.

Class attendees must be Calgary Finlandia Cultural Association (CFCA) members.  Payment for membership can be done at the first lesson.

Article about modern Finnish Lament

Here is a link to an article about Dr. Jim Wilce’s research on the revival of Finnish lament traditions. Dr. Wilce (Linguistic Anthropologist, Northern Arizona University) gave a wonderful talk to CFCA members this past winter 2017.

May 20-21, 2017: SENIORS OVERNIGHT TRIP DRUMHELLER-ROSEBUD.

Overnight trip open to all seniors, 60 years or older. See poster under May 2017 Events tab.

 

Saturday, June 24, 2017: MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION.

Picnic Site #2 at Edworthy Park, 3:00-9:00 pm. All welcome.

Pancakes provided by CFCA.

Please bring additional dish to share & BBQ items for yourself.
